Target. You can pay it in the store right after you charge something. That way you never pay interest. And it builds your credit.
Stay away from any card that is secured unless you absolutly have to. There is no fees with the target card.

Get a secured credit card from Bank of America. That will help your credit and eliminate most of the fees that subprime lenders will charge you.

Try Capital One or Orchard Bank.

After my divorce, I had to re-build my credit. Unfortunately, you’re going to end up paying an annual fee and a higher interest rate regardless. But I found these two companies easy to work with and they would review your file every 6 months to see if you qualified for an increase in your credit line.

Capital One…..They get a lot of criticism, but are good for the bad and low or no fees at all.

Get a secured card(Bank of America and local credit unions are good places to check out), or if you are a college student, try applying for an unsecured student credit card. Student credit cards are much easier to obtain than regular credit cards, and they work the same way…but avoid Discover’s student card if you have bad credit, since Discover seems to be stingy and only approve people with great credit.

If you’re not a student, then I’d recommend throwing out any offers from First Premier, Aspire, or any other company that wants $250 in fees for a card with a low limit. Avoid the fees altogether by getting a secured card! Sure a secured card involves paying the limit of the card upfront as a deposit, but it’s not much more than the fees you’d pay on a “subprime”/predatory credit card…and the best part is, you eventually get your deposit back plus interest!

The Orchard bank card is the best for people with bad credit. They report to credit bureaus to help improve your credit score.

You can find a complete list of credit cards for poor credit here:

Although these offers tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compared to ’standard’ credit cards, they’ll give you the opportunity to improve your credit score over time. Eventually, with regular on-time payments– you’ll be able to qualify for better offers with lower APR’s and less fees. But for now, these are your options…

* I would recommend taking a look at the Orchard Bank Platinum card. It’s one of the best offers available if you have bad credit.

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!
