Can a person with bad credit become a commssion officer in the armed forces?

I have bad credit and have fell behind on bills. Banks have closed my checking account and I am an ROTC cadet that will commission. Does my bad credit affect me commissioning?

If you owe money to someone you bet your a@@ it does. The military is very big on making sure you are responsible with your money and paying your bills.


Bad credit effects the chances of you getting a clearance. You need to try and get it straightened out ASAP.


start buying asap. they are going to want proof that you are TRYING to pay back your debts.they are going to want VALID reasons why you feel behind. it also depends on how bad the credit is…..good luck.
